Texas Salsa Congress Scholarship

The Texas Salsa Congress along with its promoter Ruby Rivera is dedicated in educating our dancers and students about the many options of higher education.  Ruby Rivera a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin has had a career in Higher Education for over a decade.

This year the congress will continue with that tradition. In addition to the scholarships offered, universities and educational companies from across Texas will host a college fair for students/performers during the 2008 Texas Salsa Congress.

In addition, the 2008 Congress will also award professional development stipends for dancers and participants to apply to use at other events.  The Texas Congress believes that all instructors, performers, and participates should continue to learn.  Therefore, these stipends are open to all those who attend the Texas Salsa Congress.

As a congress we want to set the bar on excellence.  It is our passion to see our students who perform to continue on to higher education.  It is our other goal to see all those who participate in the Texas Congress to have a chance to continue to learn and grow as dancers throughout the year at other Texas events.

As an undergrad student at the University of Houston and an active member of the Houston Salsa community, I feel that the Texas Salsa congress and the scholarships program are a great way to give back to the community. Together, they serve a good purpose by providing aid to students who are in pursuit of their educational endeavors while allowing them to enjoy and appreciate an intricate part of the Latin culture.

Regards,

I would love to thank Ruby Rivera and the Texas Salsa Congress for this great scholarship opportunity. Because of this scholarship, I realized that it is possible to have two lives, one, getting a great education, and another on the dance floor, doing what you love. This scholarship has helped out in my college career.

Texas Salsa Scholarship Foundation

I am very pleased to have participated in the Texas Salsa Congress. It was a lifetime experience for me. This is a great foundation for kids in high school, adults and people from many ages that are interesting in learning and wanting to succeed. The foundation gives many people a way of expressing themselves, of doing something they enjoy doing, dancing, participation and way of living free. It gives us all a change to learn in higher education and grow as dancers and as human beings. What a better way of receiving an award by dancing and doing something that you love. This is a foundation that everybody should be aware of, of the great opportunity this foundation brings us in hand. I would like to thank the Texas Salsa Scholarship Foundation for giving me an opportunity to keep on with my studies, Thank you very much!
